"...I was sad"

Today, while I was making a quick trip into the store, Nolan waited with Francis in the car.
Apparently Nolan got very upset that I left and said to Francis, "I want to see Mommy. I was sad."

Break a momma's heart.

Swing Time!

Nolan dragged the swing onto the couch, sat down and said " I sit in swing!"
I think he wants his swing up ;)

Jungle Gym time!

Nolan really wanted to hang out with his sister while she played in her "jungle gym".
I guess the excitement was just too overwhelming because Francis couldn't hold back from playing, too.

Tummy time

Alexa has been working on her tummy time. She is generally not pleased with with being forced to do push-ups!

Gifts for the new neighbors!

Since we have been overwhelmed by how sweet and friendly some of our neighbors have been (many of them stopping by to introduce themselves - even getting gifts of plants, cookies, gift cards, and wine from a few of them!), I decided to make some English Toffee holiday packages.

I have to say that I was pleased with the results! The candy turned out quite delicious!

Gingerbread Train!

Given Nolan's obsession with trains, Francis decided to continue to "feed" that obsession (pun intended) with an awesome gingerbread train kit!

Francis, Nolan, my mom, and I all worked together to make this beautiful piece of art. Nolan LOVES his "Thomas cake"!

My handsome nephews!

Robert & Connor's Christmas pics.  I love this photographer and I absolutely LOVE these handsome devils!!!

Unibrow

Francis has been crawling under the house to fix some wiring and pipes. In addition to having his clothes covered in mud, he also gets this awesome unibrow look!

Portrait of Daddy

Nolan drew this beautiful picture. When I asked him what it was, he said "It's Daddy!"

Francis was so impressed with the likeness to him ;)

Adoring Brother

Nolan absolutely adores his sister, constantly giving her kisses and wanted to hold her ("I kiss the baby"..."I hold the baby!").  And Alexa definitely feels the same way - she just smiles and coos whenever he holds her :)

Stare down

Alexa decided to have an intense stare down with me. She's already trying to show me who's boss!
(on a side note, she holds her head up really well!!)

Smiley Girl

I know they say that newborns do not smile; that any resemblance of a smile is just gas. But I think that is bunk!!

Alexa truly appears to smile. She does this when we are cooing/talking to her, not random times. I think my 9 day old baby girl is already smiling!! Melt a mama's heart!

Alexa's 1st doctor appointment & Nolan's 2yr check up

Yesterday, we took both Nolan and Alexa for their doctor appointments - Alexa for her FIRST appointment, and Nolan for his 2 year check-up. I guess that's an upside of having their birthdays so close - you can combine appointments for different milestone doc appointments :)

Alexa, being the chow-hound she is, already surpassed her birth weight in just 5 days! So Dr. Fazilat said she was dong beautifully and could skip the 2 week appt and just go to the 1 month appt.

Nolan is also doing fabulously. Despite him not eating much (my big concern!) his weight gain is right in line (weight = 27 lbs, 44 percentile) and had a BIG growth spurt in height (height = 34.75 inches, 61 percentile. He had fallen to 15 percentile at his 18 mo appt, which concerned me because he had always been around 50th). Also, his general mental development appears to be excellent. Yay!!!

Happy Mommy :)

Our Princess is Here!!!!!!!!!!

Our princess is finally here! Eight days late, but worth the wait!  Alexa Jolie Smith arrived on 10/25/2012 at 6:52am, weighing 7 lbs 9oz and 20 inches long.

On October 24, 2012, I was induced since Alexa was 7 days late at that point.  After 13 hours of labor (of which 1.5 hours was pushing), Alexa arrived!  This labor was definitely a lot easier than I had with Nolan; I was in labor for 26 hours with him (of which I pushed for 5 hours!), after which they had to forcibly remove him with the vacuum.

Alexa came out looking absolutely gorgeous - not red and blotchy, nor was she even swollen!  She was just stunning!  Francis, Nolan, and I are all just OVER THE MOON with the new addition to our family!

Counting, counting

Nolan has been able to count to 13 for a while, but he can a little more recently been able to almost count to 20. He generally forgets some of the teen numbers between 13 and 20, but he's almost there.

But what I thought was CRAZY impressive was what happened last night. Francis started counting beyond 20 with him. Francis started to say "21, 22..." and that's when Nolan caught on to the PATTERN and continued to count from 23 to 29. Francis then said "30, 31, 32" and Nolan continued "33, 34, 35...." to 39.

That kid just AMAZES me every single frickin' day!!!!!!

Nolan's new bike

Nolan got a new bike for his 2nd Birthday. He and Doo-Doo (his bear) have really enjoyed taking rides together...although Nolan hasn't quite figured out the pedals yet.

Just taking a joy ride

I took Nolan bicycle shopping for his birthday. He seemed much more interested in the shiny, red Mini (literally) Cooper car.

He was NOT happy when I informed him that a new car was not in the budget.
