Lowering Alexa's crib
Since Alexa is now pulling herself up, it was definitely time to lower her mattress. So Francis broke out the tools, and his little protege (Nolan) helped with the job :)

Alexa pulled herself to a standing position
This morning Alexa pulled herself into a standing position, using our wicker basket full of toys (she was eager to dig through all the toys!)
I read that babies usually start that around 9-12 months, and since Alexa just turned 8 months, I'm convinced she's a genius ;)
Is that not on the Mensa exam? Oh we'll, it should be!

Alexa is officially crawling
Dtd 6/26/13:
Alexa has been scooting and rolling all over the place for a while now, but as of today she has officially started crawling.
Her chubby little legs move one in front of the other, and her arms follow the lead. Video coming soon!

Nolan's 1st Ice cream from the ice cream man
Today we heard the ice cream man driving through the neighborhood - but today was different. This time I decided I would actually give Nolan the complete summertime experience by purchasing an ice cream from the ice cream man!
So we ran out there and yelled for the ice cream man to stop. Then Nolan picked out any item he wanted, which was (not surprisingly) the Spider-Man ice cream pop. Nolan could hardly contain himself.
Here are several pics from the (sticky) experience. And by the way, he asked me to take all these pics:

Sucking her finger or praying?
I'm not sure if Alexa is sucking her finger or praying, but it could be the latter since daddy was driving ;)

Tourists in SF
We went up to SF with the Armstrongs, one of the MANY tourists bombarding the city :). We started with some delicious good at Rome, then went for some chocolate at Tcho, then over to Ghiradelli Square for more gluttony!

Trip to Monterey Bay Aquarium
Since our good friends, the Armstrongs, are visiting from Raleigh, we have been out sightseeing. It has been really nice doing all the things we should be doing on the weekends...like a trip to the Monterey Bay Aquarium!
Here we are at the Fisherman's Wharf because food always comes first :)

Swimming diva!
Today, Jarrod & Jenn invited us over to BBQ and swim at their house. This was going to be Alexa's first time in a pool, so she wanted to make sure she arrives looking fabulous!
Nolan QOTD - 6/14/13
Nolan quote-of-the-day...
[Nolan asked me to turn on a flashlight since it was a bit difficult - you had to push down as you slid up the button].
N: "Mommy, turn on the flashwight."
Me: "You can do it, I'll show you."
N: "No, I can't pigure it out, I'm too wittle."
He just cracks me up!

Chillin' with dad
While Francis was just sitting and reading some instructions, Nolan hopped up and wiggled in next to him to just snuggle and relax. That boy adores his daddy!
Finger sucker
Alexa likes sucking both her thumb and her pointer finger. I know finger sucking is common for babies, but I still find it especially adorable when she does it!
"Clap!"
Alexa learned how to clap, and now claps for everything. You put some food in her mouth..clap. You give her a toy...clap. You look at her...clap.
But today, while eating dinner with my family, she actuated SAID "clap!"
She said it, then Jarrod, Jenn, Francis, and my mom all looked at each other and said, "She just said clap!!!"
Wow, not even 8 months yet. This girl impresses me every day!! :)

Here is Nolan "playing the trumpet":
And now he is "playing the violin":
As you can see, Nolan has really enjoyed his school's music program!

Fun at Costco!
Alexa loves sitting in the shopping carts now where she can see all the action. She especially loved that it was a double cart - perfect for playing with her big brother!
