Alexa took 4 steps!

Alexa took for really solid steps today! Unfortunately, AGAIN, I was not there to see it, nor was my mom able to turn on the video.

As soon as you pause to try and record her, she stops all efforts. I'm not giving up, though!

Alexa took 3 steps!!

Fri, sept 27:

Alexa took 3 steps today!!!

She has been walking with pretty sturdy, steady steps lately but has not had the confidence to let go of our hands....until today!!

Unfortunately, I did not get to see it. It was just for her Nana. It was literally 1 minute prior to me arriving at my mom's house to pick her up. My mom yelled to me as I entered, but she was unwilling to show off her new skills for mama. Oh well, I will TRY to patiently wait for her next steps.

Morning swinging

Writing "Nana"

Nolan also wrote "Nana!", although this one is harder to decipher.

You can see the top line has "N a N" (the second N is backwards), then an "a" curving around under. Then an exclamation point to the left of that (he's really on an exclamation point kick right now:)

"I write my name!"

I came outside where Nolan was writing on his whiteboard. And Nolan announces, "I write my name!"

Normally when he says that, I just nod my head in agreement but don't actually recognize the word. This time I was so CLEAR!!!

Morning hugs from Alexa

This morning when I got Alexa out of bed, she greeted me while a giant smile (as she always does).  But then she did something different; this time, she immediately gave me a big hug and laid her head on my shoulder.
She then let go, looked at me, then again hugged me and laid her head on my shoulder.  She did this around 3 or 4 times.

I can't tell you how great that made me feel.  I have such immense love for my little doll-baby, and those hugs are just priceless.  One happy mommy.

Nolan QOTD - 9/24/13

Well, actually, there are 2 quotes of the day. Nolan is too funny to keep it to one today.

First quote -
As he sat quietly organizing Francis' tools, he looks up and says:

So true, my wise son. So true.

Second quote -
Lately Nolan has really been into talking about my breasts; often also touching them or hitting them like drums. He usually calls them his "drums". But today, as we lay in his bed reading his bedtime stories:
N: "You have balls, mommy. I want to see them."
Me: "they're called breasts. They make milk to feed babies. Like when I feed Alexa."
N: "Daddy had balls. But he doesn't have any balls anymore."

No truer words have been spoken about a married man, son ;)

Today, Nolan was holding something that had a whimsical head of a giraffe on it and the word "giraffe" under giraffe head. He said, "Mommy, look at this lion."
I said, "I don't think that's a lion. Why don't you read what it says under the lion. Try sounding it out."
So Nolan proceeded, "G-i-r-a-ff...giraffe!"

Wow, I never expected him to get that one! Proud momma :)

When Alexa wants to 'get up', she says "Gup!" or "Gop!"

It's so cute and just amazing to me that she's already starting build a vocabulary.  Even if it is just her own language :)

Nolan's Halloween costume

I showed Nolan his new Halloween costume this morning. He said:
"I want to try it on! It will make me so happy. It's just so beautiful!"

Then I showed him the pic of himself in the costume, and he said, "it's so awesome!"

"F-r-a-n-c-i-s"

Nolan saw the "Francis" written on a paper. He then asked me, "What does this say, mommy?"
I said, "why don you try sounding it out?"
So Nolan started, "F-r-a-n-c-i-s.....Francis. It's Francis!"

Good job, son :)

Spelling "Mommy"

Nolan was playing with some alphabet cutouts (which only contain one of each letter) when he hollered over to me, "Mommy, I need another 'M'. I only have one!"

So I said, "Why don't you just turn the 'W' upside down."

A few seconds later he called me over and said, "Look, I spelled 'mommy'! And I turned the 'U' upside down to make another 'M', too!"

Plumber crack

Don't ask me why Nolan always yanks his pull-up diapers down to show his plumber crack.

Actually Nolan just had underwear on, as we finally started the POTTY TRAINING process. It is recommended that you have the child wear underwear only while at home during the potty training process, as it helps them (and you!) be more aware of when they have accidents.

It sure makes for some great pics.
