Nolan's 6 month check-up

Nolan had his 6 month check-up appointment today. This was the first appointment that I was not able to take him to (since I'm back at work) - it really broke my heart a little bit. He got 2 more shots, which Francis said he took like a trooper!
Here's the stats:

• Head circumference: 43.5 cm (43%)
• Height: 26.25 (44%)
• Weight: 15 lbs 10 oz (17%...still skinny!)

I truly can't believe how fast this is all zipping by! They truly do grow so fast!

Noises of the week

Each week, Nolan seem to have a new favorite sound (or sounds). This weeks sounds:
1) The doggy growl: "arrrrrrr"
2) "baba"
3) "dada"
4) "mamamama"

He is hours of hours of entertainment for me. I especially love his doggy growl :)

Nolan's 1st Easter

This Easter we went to Jenn & Jarrod's house, where we had an incredible brunch...quiche, sausage, muffins, mimosas, chocolate, and did I already mention MIMOSAS?! After stuffing our faces, Robert and Connor did their easter egg hunt, while Nolan watched the fun.

"Dada!"

For the past few days, Nolan has been occasionally saying "dadadada". So Francis asked him to say "dada", and he repeated Francis a couple times.
Can I qualify that as first words? :) He must be a genius!

Mama is hilarious!

Nolan sitting up

I had Nolan first start trying to sit up on March 25th, right after Jenn asked "Has Nolan started sitting up yet?" I said, "Oh, are they able to do that yet?!! I haven't even let him try!!"
He just seems like such a little baby still, that I didn't even have him try that big-boy skill yet. But what do you know, he instantly was sitting up for 10 seconds at a time. He took to it immediately!

Here's a video of Nolan working on his sitting skillz on April 10th. He's now pretty stable, as long as you keep something in front of him. As soon as he reaches too far left or right, though, he will often fall over. Other than that, he's mastered it!!! Go Nolan-man!

Happy Birthday, Dad!

Today my dad would have been 63 years old. There is truly not a day that passes that I don't think about him. I love him so deeply and so wish I could be spending this birthday with him.

Wherever you are, dad, Happy Birthday!!!!!!! You are honestly the most amazing man - I am so lucky that I could have you as my father. Just wish you could have met my amazing son; he reminds me of you in so many ways!

Back to Work (the other "work", that is)

Today is my first day back to work...well, the office job, that is. Although being on maternity leave is still work (it wasn't all just Oprah and bon-bons, folks!), I had such an incredible time. Those 6 months flew by!!!!

Honestly, the first 2 months were REALLY difficult - no sleep, lots of crying (both baby and me), figuring out the breastfeeding thing, and just general life adjustment. But for the last last few months, things just got easier each day, and Nolan just becomes more fun as each day passes! That's why it is even more heartbreaking - right when they are so much fun, you have to return to work! No more lunches with my mommy crew at Santana row, or walks along the Campbell trail, or shopping in downtown Campbell....

I will play it by ear for a couple months. I may just be a stay-at-home mom if being a working-mom is too much. Thank god that I have such a amazing husband who totally supports me on either decision. It makes going back much easier knowing it's a "trial" period :)

So far the day hasn't started so well, though....I cried as I left my little man this morning. And in the car. Oy.
