Nolan can do fractions?

Nolan often likes to comment that he's "five and a quarter years old". But today he said something that really surprised me. Nolan said, "Mom, if I'm 5 and four quarters, I'm really 6 years old, right?"

I said, "you're exactly right, Nolan! How did you know that? Are you learning fractions at school already?" (Very surprising, since I believe they start that in grade 3+)

Nolan said, "What are fractions? No, I just thought and thought in my head."
